HELP!!!
How the heck do you get the headlamp bezels off? The washers have ninety degree bend in them and the nut is behind the cowl tab.I didn't know if they were put in wrong or if I'm just ignorant...
Any hints?

DEA-man what have you been smoking???? these cars did not come with headlight washers. Have you got a Volvo masquerading as a Chevelle?? Shame on you. Just kidding. could you provide more details, because I do not yet grasp what you are doing.

Optional headlamp washers used the windshield washer to hose down the headlamps. Swear!!! Camaro and Chevelle option.
So, in place of the two sheet metal screws at the top of outer headlamp bezel (actually they were "special" headlamp bezels without the dimples for the screws) the washer nozzles are inserted through the bezel and through the front cowl where the speednut would have gone. Don't forget the nozzle has a ninety degree bend!! A nut was then threaded onto the nozzle from the backside sandwiching the bezel and front cowl.
The outer nozzle can barely be seen because it is behind the headlamp bucket. But you can't get the bucket out with removing the bezel. The Assembly manual shows how it goes together... NO HELP AT ALL IN TAKING IT APART THOUGH!!!!

Sorry, I can't really help you there but I was wondering if these were an option on '70 models.

Yo Kurt, ya got me!!!! But that would entail taking the car apart until I got to the bezels, right? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif
It looks like I may have to take the front cowl off which is basically taking the front end apart (grille, etc.) to fix the washer nozzle. Sounds like a winter job... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif

It's been a long time since I removed mine but I don't remember them being that hard to do (but then I don't remember what I had for lunch today either)

I'm pretty sure they weren't offered in 1970, I've only seen one other Chevelle besides mine that had them.

Thanks Dean. I was wondering if it was put together wrong or if there's a secret.
Gorgeous car. I have the matching convertible. Marina blue, black top, black bucket interior, 325hp - 4 speed and them damn headlamp washers!!!! I'll post it once I get the digital picture "developed".
