: Manufacture or Installer
Just looking for input I had my rear seat done by a shop that was reccommended to me, this is how my rear seat bottom came out. Easy to see I am not a happy camper, the shop says poor stitching looking at it I agree what do you think ???
EkS May 25th, 06, 10:00 PM It doesn't look like the installers did the bad job, it was the manufacturer. As you can see, the wrinkles are coming from seam on the pipe thread, which is the manufacturer's fault.
htm May 25th, 06, 10:03 PM Thanks what I thought 2 thanks
daveseitz May 29th, 06, 8:08 PM Installer still should have taken care of it. It may have cost you additional funds but you would have been happy.
Bill Rose May 29th, 06, 9:54 PM I'd say the installer should take the blame as well as the manufacturer. The installer should have taken one look at the cover and called you to tell about the lousy cover. It should have been returned, not installed with wrinkles in the seams.
Bottom line, it should have never been installed in the first place.
Who bought it, you or the installer??
Olle May 30th, 06, 12:56 PM Did you use the original foam bun? My front bench looked like that after I installed a new cover and I was pretty dissapointed with it, thinking about taking it to a pro to correct it. Then I decided to take it off, add some foam on top of the original bun and put the cover on again. That was all it took to fix it. There were still a few wrinkles, but after letting the car sit in the sun for a while, they were all gone.
It sure sucked to remove the cover I just installed, but it was worth it.
I agree Bill the installer should have contacted me before completing the job, but that would have just delayed the seat getting done or charging me more to fix the manufactures error but at least I would have had a choice...
Olle, yes I did have them use the orig bun but they were (supposed to) replace or add foam as needed, since I have to get the car done I installed it in the car it doesnt look to bad once installed but there is a lot of extra material I dont think they put enough foam in, so thats a whole other battle, I am probably just going to take them to a different installer and have them redone, but we will see I am picking up my buckets tommorrow, that might be a whole different story !!!!!!!
Well the wait is over I went to pick up my front seats.....they came out perfect..when I told him about the rear seat he was very sorry.....he told me he had his helper do the back seat and if I was unhappy he would make it right.. he also knocked 25 bucks off the price so I guess he is stepping up to the plate and correcting his error..this all happened without me getting upset he jumped right in and took care of the issue,, that was a nice change :)
