The 17" wheels im looking at come in a 9 inch width with a +45mm offset. If my calulations are correct, that comes out to about a 6.27 inch backspace. Im looking to run these on all 4 corners with 275/45/17's. I know this isnt optimal for a 9 inch wide wheel, but I can get a good deal. Will these rub or be underneath the car so far it looks goofy? My other option are 8" with 0 offset or 4" backspacing. Would that be the better choice? Thanks.

8" wheels need 4.5" bs 9" need 5" bs. I think 6.25" will cause rubbing on the inner wheelwells

Zero offset on a 9" wheel is right at 5" backspace. Add 45mm and you're almost to 7" of backspace. Those wheels won't fit as is but would work fine with a high quality 2" spacer.
A zero offset 8" wheel should be closer to 4.5" backspace,not 4".

I think I want to go with the 8". I dont want the wheel adapters. Trying to stay on a budget. Any reason not to go with a 245/45/17?

My only suggestion is do it the way you Really want, the first time. Re-do's get expensive.

I hear you Clint. Unfortunatly I need new tires and Im sick of my rallys. I really want 18" Budnik Hammers, but I cant afford them. I have a friend that works for a wheel manufacturer that might be able to get me some nice aluminum 17x8's for cost, maybe free. I really want to try a low profile combo before investing $3000 that I dont have.

18x8 Hammers with 245's all around should look & work fine. What kinda money you talking there? Budniks aren't cheap wheels.

I was saying I cant afford the Hammers. Almost $500 each rim. I should be in the neighborhood of about $300 total with wheels, tires, and balancing after I sell my rallys. Thats not bad for a 17" setup.

Just a clarification on what Clint was saying, so you can recalculate correctly...

Example: On your 17 X 9" wheel, the 9" measurement is between the bead seats (where the tire actually sits)...

BUT, the overall width of a bare 17 X 9" wheel is actually 10"... Backspacing is taken from the very outer edge of the inside of the wheel. "Offset" is figure from the center of the wheel

45mm is ~1.77", with zero offset a "9-inch" wheel will have 5.00" BS, add 1.77", and the 45mm offset wheel will have 6.77" of BS (almost 7" as Clint was saying)...
