Your local NAPA store or body shop supply store sells a special tool for removing this trim. By God don't try and use a screw driver or you'll be buying a new back glass! Gentley move the tool up under the trim. When the 'hook' of the tool contacts the clip underneath, work it to release the clip from the trim. There's no good way to describe how to that I can come up with. It will 'SNAP" when it releases. You don't have to use much pressure or twisting action. Just practice with it.

You can access some of from the trunk ( the corner elbows of the vinyl top ), but the rest along the lower edge of the vinyl top that goes towards the passenger window will have to be accessed from the inside of the car. You'll have to remove back seat ( which is easy ) and your rear door panels to access the hardware holding the trim onto the 1/4 panel.

Hey Dan, Is the '68 mldg. attatched to the quarter differently than the '69? On the '69 the mldg. is held on with plastic clips that slide over weld-on studs. The diagonal mldg. @ the 1/4 glass is screwed on from the inside, but it might not be necessary to lift the vinyl that far, and it may not be necessary to remove any interior trim.

To remove the 1/4 panel trim do this. Open trunk and direct some light (trouble light) toward the front of the car just above the wheel well. Open the door and remove the black plastic vent by removing the two screws. Look inside and you will see 1/4" speed nuts securing the trim. Remove them with a 3/8" ratchet & 1/4" (I think) socket.
You can get the rest from the trunk. Use new speed nuts when you reassemble. They're meant for 1 time use.
