i purchased an LS5 with the 4 speed option. the trans was stolen from the car while in storage .the car has no air,no ps.does have the pdb. the quarters needs replacing, trunk, outer and inner wheelhouse panals, tail section. and the package shelf is bad rusted. the floors are good, except for small hole in floor lh front. my interest in this car is about gone. at what point does one just throw up his hands and quit

Michael,

If you are questioning it, then a resto is not for you. I have seen some really bad cars saved. Do you have the correct matching numbers LS5 engine to go with the car?

Never give up, if it's too much for you (no shame in that) sell it to someone that can handle the work. I have seen VERY FEW that can not be saved but if you have to pay someone to do the work it will cost a small fortune.
My opinion.

Hi Don't give up, if your a little stressed out about your car take a little break possibly a week to think it over.I bought a basket case 67 SS that I've been working on for over 4 years. This is my 3rd frame up restoration while previously restoring a 72 SS in '85 and a 70 SS in '95.Try to think of your car as a challenge and love for the car and not as a job,if you make a quick decision you might regret it, good luck.

well been there and done that before but not this time. I once owned a 69 chevelle ss 396 car and sold becuz I lost intrest in it and wish I never did, but I sold to a guy that completely restored the car. if your not up to it show it the respect and let someone that can restore it. or like 67 mark iv said take a break from it walk away. Im working on a 72 that ive thought about selling a few times but I just walk away and come back to it. it will take time and alot of work, but when shes completed it will be all worth it.. good luck

I know the feeling, thought about selling mine many times not because of the project size but financial stability with a new house payment, wife and kids etc. But in the eight years I've owned my 71 I've purchased part by part just about everything needed to put this project together so hopefully soon I'll see the end of the tunnel. If you really like the car find a way to do it or get it done. I've sold to many finished project cars to finance property and pay bills etc.----I know this one will finally be a keeper. ;)
