: Air Shock PSI

I have Monroe Max-Air shocks (25 psi min, 150 psi max) in the back of my '69 Malibu. I'm using them just as shocks, not to lift the car -- I like the look and handling of stock height. I let the air out of them gradually and the springs carried the height at 15 psi. I pumped them back up to 35 psi to give cushion to the ride.

What's the minimum psi to make air shocks perform as well as gas shocks? At about what psi do they start putting undue stress on the shock mounts?

Thanks.

On my 70 Camino OEM Delcos No less than 12 LBS. On my 70 sta wgn BB. New 06 Delcos No less than 10-15. Less air you can hurt the shock internally.
I have had good luck keeping about 12-15 LBS of air and the ride is fine.JMO.

If they aren't really serving any purpose other than as shocks, why not just get some gas shocks? You would probably be MUCH happier overall with the quality of the ride and the handling versus air shocks.
