I am getting my chevelle ready for paint and want to strip and paint the engine compartment.
I want to ask, is it better to detail the engine comparment before or after painting the body?

Before. Way too nasty in there. Too easy to bang up the outside while working under the hood. Work from the inside out. I am in the middle of cleaning my engine compartment and I can't tell you how many times I have banged my head on fenders, pulled extention cords over stuff, gotten POR-15 on everything and grease and dust from wiping and wirebrushing under there. I would have ruined a good paint job by now.
