Hello. My 72 chevelle has rusted roof drip rails. Just the lower parts on the drip rail . If you don't know what I'm talking about they are the metal pieces that attach to the roof above the side windows. Then your stainless drip rail mouldings go over. My question, Does anyone make these? I want to replace the metal drip rails. thanks! Nick

nick as far as i know they are not avaliable. you would have to remove roof skin to install them . are they so bad that the chrome want cover bad areas? you might be able to fab something to replace the bad section. i have seen chevelles with the drip rail shaved off .

Mike. I believe the drip rail is actually a major key in the structure of the car. I am going to have to fab up a new section of metal. It's only on the front windshield pillars. I need to use the chrome B/C I'll be going with a vynil top.

yeah i just replaced mine on the drivers side. I found a monte carlo and used the one off it. they unbolt 3 lil screws hold them on. after you drop the chrome channel that holds the rubber up. I took mine right off and used a good one off a monte carlo. let me know if you cant find one.

They unbolt? I thought they were part of the roof?

no open door and pull rubber out easy. youll see 3 screws holding the chrome piece on. take those out all the way back to the small rear window so it will come down out of your way. after that youll see 3 more lil screws that hold that piece on. youll have to take the chrome strip off and pick the old seam sealer away. but they do unbolt. I thought i was going to have to replace the whole post but we were stripping a monte for a guy and noticed it. so bingo saved alot of time and money. luckily my post wasnt that bad it was just the rail that the chrome clips to that was bad. check it out and if you have access to a junk yard with a few montes in there get to em quick. If not let me know and ill check my local yard I think theres a few still in there. good luck

The chrome strips around the roof slide onto a metal rail that is part of inner workings of the roof.
Those panels that unbolt are NOT the drip rails.
If your drip rails are rusted you need to fab up some pieces and patch it in, or remove the roof and replaced the entire rail itself...Eric
Id shave 'em before Id remove a roof just to fix those tiny pieces of metal. Plus a vinyl top is fugly

I have the same problem on the 71 that I am restoring. The drip rail on the pillars is removable. I removed them already. not pretty underneath either. Mine are very rusted too. I will have to get replacements. The one above the windows at the edge of the roof are not removable.
