i am about to do a patch job on my 70 and i had a couple of questions.

1) which is really better, welding or the adhesive?

2) how are the cuts in the panel made to optimize the seam between the patch and the panel?

I would go with welding its permanet wont seaperate also if your good and can cut perfect straight lines butt weld is the best way. if not over lap the panel is fine also just a little more body work.

search panel bonding, or panel adhesive in this forum and a wealth of info will turn up. I recall reading that a glued panel will show a line in the finished paint, hence you want to make a glue seam where it won't be seen. Hence, most people glue the panel to the outer wheelhouse, and under the trunk filler, but weld the quarter patch on the top. The weld line, properly ground down, and skimmed with body filler won't ever show a line in the paint. I did the above with my 65 quarters and it turned out fine. Butt welding is not that hard. Search that term also on this site and learn how to do it.
