Considering the consequences of accidentally engaging the tranny brake while in motion, what is the best place to mount the button to eliminate the possibility of accidental engagement ?

Stock or after market sterring wheel? I put mine on the wheel, inside one of the spokes of the wheel. It also makes a difference on the kind of button you use.

Regardless of where you put it. Buy some type of power interupter that won't allow accidental engagement after use. I have a 20 sec delay, through my delay box before it will engage again. If this is a street car put it on a toggle switch so you can kill power to the button when not in use.
