Hi Guys,

I installed a new Repro 3/8 Single Line Sending unit (second one) with a new Repro Fuel Tank on my 69 Camaro. the Sending Unit tested Ok out of the box, 90 ohms when the float was at top.

I installed it and put 5 gallons of fuel in the tank, the console fuel gauge was reading around 1/4. When I started the engine, the gauge went down to empty. I filled the tank and the reading was between 3/4 and full (reading 67 ohms).

This is the second sending unit I install in two weeks with the same issue. What could be the problem. Before my old sending unit died it worked fine for years.

What could be my problem?

Thanks, Daniel.

The gauge is 0-90 ohms so at 80 you were a little short to begin with. When installing sending units, be sure the float are does not contact the tank in its travel range. The float arm may be hitting the tank and may not be up all the way.

Hi Greg,

I made a typo the sending unit was reading 90 ohms at full position.

The float doesn't seem to contact with anything inside the tank.

This the secong sending unit in two weeks, both had the same problem.

They both read fine when it turned the ignition key, but as soon as I started the car they both went from 1/4 to Empty.

I not sure want is going on, the old one worked for years.

Thanks, Daniel.
