I'm currently in the process of restoring my 71 chevelle.

I want to redo the entire suspension, but don't want to spend a fortune. My aim is to have a suspension that handles well, but still has some comfort. I'm not saying I want it to ride like a cadillac, so I am willing to sacrifice a little ride comfort for a little more performance.

Thinkin of getting an Energy Suspension polyurathene bushing set for the entire suspension (except for the rear upper Control arms...(is it safe to go polygraphite there?))

What's the difference between polyurethene, and polygraphite??? which would you recommend?

Also I need recommendations for spring/shock combos... I like the height its at now, but I know those original springs have settled alot. If I go stock spring height, it will probly be 1"-2" higher. So I'll probly want a 1 inch lowering spring.

And finally, what about front and rear sways?? what sizes and brand should I go with?

Thanks for any input. I'm really lookin foward to gettin this thing back in running condition

As someone relativly new to the suspension gig who just did a front end rebuild, heres what I can tell you. I wanted a ride that's a lot firmer so I didn't have to stop to go around a curve with out spending a fortune.
I did the Energy Polyurithane bushings upfront and they're awsome. I kept the springs that were in there and put Edelbrock Performer shocks in. It already had a sway bar so I can't be much help there. One thing that I have learned that helps make sense is that springs determine height and shocks control the smoothness or handling. Just putting new bushings and shocks made it feel like a new car.:)
