Has anyone installed a Vintage Air MARK IV system (under dash) on a 66 Chevelle? How does it work....how does it look? For $ 300.00 ..why not?

Thanks.....jeff

I don't know but it has that 1970s aftermarket add on look to it. Reminds me of my grandparents 70 Kingswood station wagon after they bought a CB during the big craze in the 70s. Might be a nice vintage touch.

What do you get for $300, just the head unit? Looks like just what I want for my 64 - non a/c. Can't spend a fortune on it. Too many parts to make it look like original factory air. I don't even need it to look like the dealer installed original, I just want to be cooler!

That's what I'm thinking. I can't justify putting a $1,000 a/c system in my car right now, so $300 and a quick weekend installation sounds like a pretty good alternative to me. Haven't found much info on this unit though.

What is the story on this? I looked it up in Vintage air but no price or info. Any one know what it takes to install? Is $300 the price? My Mom had a similar unit in a 65 Dodge and I remember that it worked pretty well. Thanks, RichF.

Jim, Sorry for the delay, no I have not purchased it yet, just moved from NJ to GA too much to do. But as BurbankSS said I just want to be cooler, and if it works and looks "cool" no pun intended for $300....... I say why not

I worked in the Spermbank for over four years on Olive and Buena Vista. I can't imagine having a car without AC in that scorcher of a town. How do you do it?

Along with power front disk breaks, a cold AC solution is going to be top priority.

I rememebr when I used to have to commute from Thousand Oaks to LA many many years ago with no AC. I would strip to my boxers and drive to town in my Nissan P/U with the windows down and get dressed in the parking structure.

A/C is a must out here. But even worse is when I see '65s for sale in Arizona with no AC. It's got to kill to drive that thing!

To get Back on Topic, anyone that has used one of these $300 systems, please post so we know how it looks and most importantly works.

Thanks
