MY 1969 chevelle SS has a alternator three connections one is the two wire connection, a "bat" connection and a "grd" connection. My question is should there be a wire to the ground connection. Also, I of course have a external regulator.

The ground connections connects the internal parts to the case which is grounded by the bracket which is bolted the the engine which is bolted to the frame.
