My Decision on What muffler to replace my excessively loud 40 series 2 chamber flowmasters has come to a VERY pleasant end. This morning I had 50 series delta flow flowmasters installed. AWESOME sound. The muffler shop guys and customers were already tripped out over the car and to hear how it sounded made it even more disireable. The loud tone of the 40 series at tail pipe was muffled down to my likings. I have a very nice loping cam, without a nice sounding cam may be too mellow..
Here is the bonus to all this.. I have been living with a hesitation off idle. Sometimes if I went WOT out of gear the engine would kill. I worked with Timing, jetting and could never get rid of it. Today with the muffler installation, I had them add a balance tube (H-pipe). Unbelievable, started the, engine still on rack, sounded awesome, than I reved it a bit and noticed NO hesitation. Than I went WOT, and the engine went over 5 grand right now. Also notice better low end, like if the old mufflers were holding me back. Un F 'ing real, one Happy camper !!!!!!!!!!!!
The balance tube solved my hesitation problem, and why??? Don't know....

Congrats on fixing your problem! So what did you do with the old mufflers? Did you keep them or leave them at the shop? If you kept them and want to get rid of them/throw them away, I'll be more then happy to take them off your hands! :D

Looking back I really liked mt 50 deltas...just the right sound and noise level. I had them in 2.5". I would go with them again but now that I have a 3" I think they would be too loud.

I have the 50 series (not deltas) on my 396 with headers and 3" exhaust w/ an H-pipe. Exhaust sounds awesome, and I get compliments a lot. Not loud at all during idle or cruise, WOT = un-f*cking believable!
