: Aftermarket power windows
Hobart May 19th, 06, 10:57 AM Hi guys. I've been hibernating for the winter, but it's time to get back in the garage. This is not a Chevelle question, sorry. I'm looking to convert my '60 LeSabre ragtop to power windows, and I was thinking about using one of the aftermarket kits that goes on the crank-splines, like this one from SPAL:

Anyone have any comments on this type of setup? I would consider using the aftermarket flat-glass type of universal kits with regulators, but it won't work for the back windows, since they pivot forward when they go up. Thanks.
bobg May 19th, 06, 4:00 PM I've had the Spals in my Elky for five years and have never had a problem. They look and work great. Took about four hours to install. You can buy them directly from Spal at www.spal-usa.com (http://www.spal-usa.com)

DaleM May 20th, 06, 11:40 AM I had these kits in both front and rear of my x-67 sport coupe and had no issues with them at all in the few years before I sold the car. Simple to install and could easily have returned to manual crank if needed.
Hobart May 20th, 06, 11:25 PM Thanks a bunch, guys. Nu-relic doesn't make them for my car. I need to call Electric Life and see what they say. I'm leaning towards the SPAL kit so far. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks again, I appreciate the help.

Power Reverse Hood Kit
When something this cool comes along, it's hard for us to ignore. The picture does a far better job of describing it than we can here, but basically this kit opens your hood electrically (either remotely with a special key fob) or from inside your car. Your hood will now slide forward (to eliminate interference) and pivot for the front, showing off any graphics, flames or stripes. Some of the technology built into this kit includes power actuators, gas shock stabilizers and Delrin axial guideways. You can get it in a bolt-in for (one day installation) or a universal kit (minimal welding and fabrication required). A manual emergency hood release is also built into the design.
