I have a plan I want to share with you guys.
I am going to modify my Chevelle so that I can have the best of both worlds. You guys have read my post/poll about which wheels to run on my car. You guys responded with an almost 50/50 split. I like my car both ways. When I get bored with one style I can just spend an afternoon changing things up. Wouldn't it be cool to have two styles of car with the same car? One, a slightly modified muscle car and the other a wicked street monster. What exactly do I mean?
- Chevelle #1 = The exterior would have a mostly stock look, SS hood, ralley wheels and a semi quiet exhaust note, pop the hood and the engine looks like a warmed over 396!
- Chevelle #2 = The car will look like an outlaw street beast, 4" fiberglass cowl induction hood, Weld Pro Star wheels with the classic "big-n-littles" stance, and a loud rowdy exhaust note. Pop the hood and the engine has a cool custom "Bad Boy Stroker" with cool custom details.
Here is why I want to mod my Chevelle to have both:
Sometimes I like having a loud rowdy car that thumps the ground and draws a crowd from 2 blocks away. The kind of car that you hear before you see, if you know what I mean. The kind of car that gets everyones attention at cruise night, the "Bad Boy" in the crowd. It will have the performance to back up the look too with a 650 HP 496 stroker under the hood.
Other times I like my car to look as stock as possible, to be a cool muscle car with a flair for the past. The kind of car that people like because it reminds them of days gone by.
So here is the plan to pull it off:
- Step one, two sets of wheels. The stock look is ralleys with BFG Radial TA's, my favorite classic Chevy muscle car combo. The flip side, the Weld Pro Stars with skinny's in the front and wide and tall sticky Mickey drag radials out back.
- Step two, two hoods. The stock SS hood and the 4" fiberglass cowl induction hood.
- Step three, two sets of mufflers. I currently have a Torque Tech 3" system with Super-40's on the Chevelle. When I installed the system on the car I added 3-bolt flanges behind the mufflers so I could drop the center section for maintenance. I am going to add flanges to the front of the mufflers that are measured out to the dimensions of a 3-chamber Flowmaster. This will allow me to swap from Super-40's to 3-chambers with just 12 bolts! Genius!
- Step four, two sets of air cleaners and valve covers. For the stock look, a chrome open element air cleaner with a 396 decal adorning the top and chrome valve covers. For the rowdy look, black powder coated valve covers and a black K & N extreme air filter assembly.
So what do you guys think? I have all the parts on hand to pull this off. This is gonna be cool.
Chime in and give me your thoughts!!! :D
