Hi Guys:

The previous owner had my car painted, and the taillight housing were on the car when painted. I think the gasket is in there (not sure). What are options here so as to not screw things up terribly? Razor blade the paint? I need to remove the housings to replace the tailight. TIA

You can cut it with a blade, It's ok to do that..

You can wet sand down the rasor cut edge with 1200 wet paper to smooth it out and install new gaskets. Make sure you run masking tape next to the edge so you don't sand the corner, then buff lightly. Stick the tape on your shirt first, before appling to car, this will help to prevent it from puling to hard on the paint when you remove it.
