I just recently bought a 72 Chevelle and noticed my cowl tag was removed. Any reason why some one whould want to remove it?? The car is a regular malibu, nothing special. This sucks!!

I removed the cowl tags on both my Chevelles to do some rust repair. I lost the one for my 69 for about a year, then I found it. Somehow it fell down between the cowl and the fender :clonk: I riveted it back on before I lost it again. I don't think I'll be taking the next one off.

When I had my '70 back in '78 the cowl tag was hanging by one rivet. The hood had a rubber bumper on the underside that hit the cowl tag when the hood was opened and closed. The action of opening and closing the hood had worn the holes in the tag to the point that one rivet had pulled through the tag. I suppose almost thirty years later on your car both rivets pulled through and no more tag.
