I have been getting the body ready for paint, patching holes ect. Now I am ready to use some body putty for the final areas. The question I have is can "bondo" be put over paint or primer or does it have to go down to bare metal. Most of the areas that are bad are down to the bare metal phase but in small dimples can I just scuff and apply or does it need fresh metal? Thanks Dickson

Bondo goes on bare metal. If you want to put it over painted dimples you can...it's your car. I wouldn't on mine though. They have a different type of filler that you can use over primer. I don't know the brand names but your paint supplier or someone else will chime in.

"Polyester putty" like Evercoats "Glaze coat" can be applied over sanding paint, no problem at all.
