I just picked up another elco, sold my 67 over a year ago and have been itching for another one. This time I went for a 68. I believe it has a 350 and not the original 327. The engine block is one of those Hecho in Mexico 3970010 casting number blocks. A Muncie M20 is what the seller said she has... I have not crawled under to see the numbers yet, but I saw that it was the Muncie aluminum casing and the ratio feels wide compared to an M21 I recently drove. This elco has a 12 bolt in her and I checked the resources and I could not find my numbers. The axle tube had a number from the list I saw but not the casting date on the center housing. There is an E stamped near the 12 bolt cover on the machined surface. I have not pulled the cover off yet.
I got a few pics on a page I made. Please check the pics here:

If anyone can tell me what I have here, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Rich

It could be 3:31 open( 69 )...check for a date in one of the bottom webs facing the rear of the car ..will help identify if it is original.

The casting date is on the driver side opposite the CON1 and E (which don't tell us anything). The CW (1969 or earlier) is a 3.31 non-posi that was assembled Sept. 21 in Buffalo. The casting number is on the front of the housing center section. The casting number and casting date will tell us what year it is.

OK, found it... looks like maybe September 11, 1967?

Yes, I117 would be Sept. 11, 1967. Fits well with the assembly date, and is appropriate for a 1968 model 12 bolt. The casting number on the front should be 3917124.

Thanks for the help... I'd like to have a posi in this elco to properly distribute the horsies to the ground... what would be the best approach?
Thanks,
Rich
