Looking for recommendations for comapanies to deal with in getting a custom hood for my Chevelle, want to get more air to the carb. Read postings on Glasstek and Go Fast.com (who get hoods from Glasstek). From reading, the product is good but delivery sucks.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

The advice I can give is to see the product in person before you buy. Harwood and other companies sell their products at swap meets. It looks like you're close to Carlisle.
Unlimited gets a lot of bad press. But, I bought a 69 SS hood and was pleased with it. Don't expect any fibergalss hood to fit and look like a good steel hood. They usually need a good bit of body work to smooth them out.
About 5 years ago, when 66 hinged cowl hoods weren't available, I made my own. I bought a 4" lift off cowl hood. I took my stock 66 steel hood and separated it in half. Ground off the edges and removed some of the seam sealer in the center section. I also separated the fiberglass hood by gringing the under supports.
I then epoxied the top fiberglass piece to the steel under piece. It opened and closed like a stock hood and looked factory from underneath. The factory insulation hid the fiberglass. Worked well. There are also steel cowl scoops on the market for $150 to add to a steel hood.
