I have contacted Brodix on this question, but have heard that they do not recommend drilling steam holes in their heads for 400's. My car will be more street than strip and this concerns me a bit. Anyone have thoughts or knowledge of this....Wolfplace??

You are correct, Brodix does not recommend the steam holes & has a gasket modification the eliminates the need for the holes WITH THEIR HEADS
It used to be on their site, may still be, I haven't looked lately but it is in the catalog
I can't speak for other heads as they may have different water circulation.

Also, be advised that drilling aftermarket heads is not the same as GM heads. You may need to drill the hole about 2 inches to reach water & it will be at a specific angle to the deck.

I always use "4 corner water" on 400's if possible & this seems to help quite a bit as it allows you to remove hot water from both ends of the head so you are not circulating all the hot water clear back through the casting to the front of the head to exit.

With GM blocks & heads I always use the center steam holes for street use. aftermarket blocks do not need steam holes, different casting, no place for the water to get trapped & boil.

If you are interested in the heads email me, I may be able to save you a buck or two ;)
