Everyone around here seems to use Mitchell's software. Seems like something that one should know before opening a body shop to me.

he originally had a partner that was opening it with him, but that guy bailed on him, but hes already invested enough into it to try and keep it going.

Well he can call Mitchell at 1800-238-9111 or look on the website www.mitchell.com (http://www.mitchell.com)
Just something to think about Mitchell is NOT the only computer estimate software out there. We use ADP software mainly because of the price, its around 230-250 a month were Mithcell was around 450 a month. Mitchell does have a few more options to it.
Not knowing if you have a bigger shop or small town shop like we have, but I can tell you this when that insurance company sees that estimate was writing with mitchell software it puts a feather in your cap sorta speak if you know what I mean. So basically if that shop is in a big city with several other shops operating, Mitchell software would be MY choice, but for small town Iowa of 5000 people ADP is just fine...Eric

Am using CCC (pathways) ADP (shoplink), now we have to add Mitchell. Our Insurance "partners" dictate what we use.
Remember along with software, there are significant and ongoing investments in Hardware and updates.
Your friend should choose very carefully, and try to determine the most prevalent program being used by Major Insurance companies in his Market area.

I use comp-est (http://www.compest.com/)
at my shop. The estimate is very easy to read and understand especially for a customer who can't comprehend a Pathways estimate.
