I am in the process of an engine swap for my '65 Chevelle, replacing the original 283 with a brand new GM Universal 350 crate motor. The bellhousing which worked with the old 283 does not seem to work with the new 350. When I bolt up the bellhousing (GM Part No. 6263756), the throwout bearing is jammed tight up against the pressure plate diaphram fingers. The bellhousing, clutch fork and pivot ball are all stock GM. The bellhousing came out of a '71 Chevelle with 350. The clutch is a Zoom 11" raised cone diaphram type. The flywheel is stock GM. The throwout bearing is a standard short type. I'm thinking that either the bellhousing or the pivot ball is the problem, maybe both. Thanks in advance for your help.
