rich64 Apr 27th, 04, 5:25 PM Hey RAD; I have an 87 accord that I picked up
for my daughter when she started college 5
years ago. Now the darn thing has carb problems.
Got any leads where I can pickup a rebuild kit
for this car? I rebuilt the motor 4 years ago
replaced the clutch kit twice. One of the worst
cars I ever worked on.

The last of the dip shops in the Bay Area is in Santa Rosa,CA., but if it's as bad as you say be prepared for some swiss cheese when the chems get through with the rust. I will look for the name and revert, but you can probably find it in the Santa Rosa yellow pages. They do fantastic work and they prime the finished product. Not to expensive either, but that's a relative term.

70isfine Apr 27th, 04, 10:13 PM On the Accord carbs, they just wear out.The shaft that the butterflys are on wears out and causes a major vaccum leak.I was able to find a wrecked acoord with only 36k on it when my 86 Accords carb bit the dust. I bought a kit for a quadrajet that came with a drill bit that allowed you to drill out the holes for the throttle shaft and put bronze bushings in to tighten it up,maybe something like that may work. Also put three clutches in mine,it fell apart at 246k but the motor still ran like a top.As far as that Chevelle, buy one already restored, tell everyone its the same car, save a lot of money, heartache and time. smile.gif

rich64: well my 87 accord has 177,000 miles on it and the engine still runs great!! i never had any carb problems. ive seen many of these cars at the local junk yard with over 300,000 on the odometer!! they are great cars and easy to work on.. tight but what late model car isnt?.. i dont know where to pick up a carb kit because i never had problems with it yet.. but with 177,000 on the clock i might look for one next time i do a tune up.
