I know you can chrome it, but can it be powder coated? Or will it just melt? I have a friend that works for a powder coating place, and can get me some pretty decent prices. They have a powder coating called "Near Chrome" which... well.. Looks kinda like chrome! Anyone got any info on this?

Your 'friend' should know. I think the process only goes up to about 400 degrees. Should be fine.
