OK...so I have the doors hung on the E.C. and everything lines up. Now I want to paint the jambs. What is the best way to do this? The car is blocked and in final primer waiting to be sealed.
So should I seal the jambs and let the overspray get on the body or should I mask? Do I spray the door edges around the bottom and side also?
I am using a 2 stage paint so do I spray the clear on at this time 'cause I probably won't shoot the whole car for a month of so. I want to be able to put the car back together and drive or trailer it to the paint booth..I am gonna use DP402LF as a sealer and the spec sheet says to sand if it has been on for more than a week...
Any ideas???

Thanks...

I usually do the jambs and panel edges while it is apart and in it's last stage of primer before the final sanding, this way any overspray on the exterior will be sanded off during the final sanding. Epoxy makes an excellent surface below your paint and is an excellent sealer. Most people do notice some loss of gloss when topcoating over epoxy if it doesn't lock up good before the topcoat is applied. In your case it looks like you'll have plenty of dry time.

seems everyone does this a little different. Some guys paint the outside first, then do the jams. Their reasoning is it's easier to mask the out side of the car then the jams. Also, any over spray from the jams is easier to get off with the color sanding / buffing of the outside. I've never done it this way, but it makes sense to me. I think more convential is to paint the jams and then the out side. I know that can get over spray on the jams and that is hard to clean up.
