I've read a lot of paint rules for BB/CC but my Chevelle got painted with a single-stage urethane for the main coat of black and the white stripes. I was curious, only thing I heard from the paint guy was no wax for like 30 days. Anything else I should be aware of? Does bird poop make as much a difference as it does with clear coat? And since my stripes are painted on and not coated to even up (you can feel that they're raised), and buffing reccommendations? I don't want to buff and chip at my stripes or anything. Thanks for any tips.

These are really tough questions to answer in a short note. First, I depending on the wax product, you can "wax" anywhere from one day to the a year. There are "Glazes" that breath and are used by body shops after a car is cut and buffed only a day or less after painting.
There are some "sealers" like Rain dance that can seal and distroy your paint a year later!
Your SS urethane should hold up to bird droppings as well or better than CC. If you "buff" over yours stripes you will soften the edge on the stripe and make it nicer. But this is a delicate operation where cutting too much would mean a redo.

if you must use a glaze or a cleaner/polish make sure it is PAINTIBLE like martin says some can be used others can't, meguiers makes some real nice stuff i use there diamond cut compound and there cleaner/polish, they are paintible, it will say right on front of bottle if it is paintible or not, goodluck
