i have a little problem. i have a 12 bolt out of i believe to be a 68 or 69 chevelle. the thing is i tried to look at the ring gears to find the stamped numbers on it to tell me what the gear ratio is. but couldn't find any at all. nor could i find any factory tag stating what is in it. i did get the vin# can anyone help? here is the vin136399B316110. there was also these numbers on the carrier GM 58 and 01 110 if they mean anything.

The car's VIN won't tell you what the rear ratio is. An easy way to check is to count the number of teeth on the ring and pinion, and divide the pinion's teeth into the ring gears. I.e. 10 teeth on the pinion, 41 teeth on the ring, 41/10 = 4.10.

If you have access to the trim tag data I would like to get it if you don't mind. Would like to add it to my research data for baltimore cars..thanks Andy

SS69Chevelle,
What kind of research data are you collecting? What is it for? The reason I ask, I have a Baltimore car as well.
Thanks in advance...
