I am having my marina blue 66 SS396 convertible re-painted as part of the restoration. I am going with a base/clearcoat paint. The car will have a brite blue interior. I need to know if the metal parts of the interior (dash, column, ect.) get the same color paint and gloss finish as the exterior. We can't seem to find out what is supposed to be correct since what is there now is in pretty sorry shape. Thanx for any help on this.

The interior metal will get a satin finish. the Brite Blue metalic interior paint is a little different tint than the exterior marina blue., TRUE CORRECT will have a satin or almost Flat appearance. I do not have the actual codes handy however. But, absolutely not the same finish as the exterior, esp. the dash...wouldn't want that glare off your dash on a sunny day.

Hey sxty, Im in the same position your in. I dont think you can find the original color at the paint store, but I know you can buy the original interior color from year one. the only problem is, it is lacquer. I used some on my trim pieces and it looked very good, but I wouldnt think its real durable. I have a 65 elcamino with a light blue interior and Im just going to paint the dash with the same paint that car will be painted with. which is mist blue using bc/cc. what you can do is buy some of the paint from year one and spray a test piece, and have your paint dealer try to match it. It's all what you want in the end. Im not building a show car so originality is not a factor. If you have any questions just email me.

Sorry people, my computer threw a rod and had to get sent out for a rebild. Thanx for all of your input. I'm not sure what color I will go with on the interior but it definately will NOT be glossy. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
