Hi!

Got my new cam for my 468, it's a Comp Cams 294S, I used a Isky tool to cut a deeper notch to clear the intake valve (2.19) but went a little too far I think?? I needed to remove .050" (for a total of .080") but ended up with a .070" notch only on one piston!

Is it still safe to use this piston or should I replace it, or maybe even add material with a TIG welder??

I would`nt be welding on the pistons. I`m sure .070 will be fine but others should chime in and give you more correct info, I don`t know much about bbc`s pistons. at the very least I would say to cut the rest of the pistons to match if there is enough meat there to accept it.

You need to check that area (thickness) where the intake notch is. If you are thinking of using Nos., you need a minimum of .100 thickness with a small radius in the pocket. If its a N.A. engine you could go as low as .075/.080, but no more than that.

What are you're cam spec's, I will be using that same piston in my 454 build up with 2.19/1.88's.
