Took my hood off to detail my cowl area and replace the seal. Just spent the whole rotten day trying to align my hood and get it back right. Thanks to MartinSr and the Tech archives I think I finally got it. Only problem is, when the hood gets down to about 6 inches from latching, it feels like the hinges are binding up. For the life of me I can't see where or how come. Was wondering if maybe the new cowl seal is causing some resistence and this problem will go away when it flattens out a bit. Anyone have this problem before?

Yes I have seen this problem . A "hard rubber" cowl seal can cause interference and lift in the rear of the hood . Suppliers offer 2 kinds of rubber seals and I opted for the "foam rubber" seal . The foam seal crushed down immediately and the hood sat down into place. I think they came from the factory with both kinds of seals depending on the factory. I've seen both hard and foam types in the wrecking yards and they look original. Hope this helps Nick graemlins/waving.gif

I have heard of numerous problems with "hard" seals and weatherstripping.
Where is the best place to get the soft type of seals?
