What to use for the dash on a 69, what about the firewall and the tail pannel?
I bought a qt. of PPG Consept 2k and a qt. of DX 685 the mix is easy enough but what is close to what the factory used?
It said a 50/50 mix would give an Eggshell finish but it acually is a little to flat almost a chalky look.
Anyone have any secret formulas?

What clear did you get as PPG makes tons of clears??
Depending on the clear and the hardner used the amount of flatting agent(dx685) changes. So the 50/50 rule does not always apply.

The way the ratios are measured is by having 32oz(1qt) of straight clear no reducer no hardner
So say you have DCU2020 clear with DFX7 hardner and want semi gloss you need 32oz of clear, then add 27 oz of DX685 then 32 oz of DFX7 hardner.
If you dont need that much clear just reduce the the oz's in half or 1/3,1/4 but you need to reduce the oz for each product the same ratio...Eric
Thanks for the reply sevt_chevelle :
What I have is a quart of black DCC 9300 and a quart of DX685 and 8 oz of hardner.
So there is no clear, I am using as a single stage paint?
This is what the guy at the paint store sold me and it does work fine Im just not sure of the amount of flatness?

TC, I have no idea what degree the gloss "should be"
Anyway as you can see DCC concept has three ratios to follow once again depending on the hardner used. You dont mention what hardner you are using. Each one has different mix ratios to meet the desired gloss.

DCC can be mixed with DCX9 and DCX61. 9 is a hot or force dry hardner were 61 is a all round hardner. Also you can use DU5 and DU6 plus DFX7 which would be the supercharged hardner(you dont want that)
ITt's the DCX-61 I gess what I am asking is what degree of flat is usually used on the firewall, dash, tail pannel, inerfender, hood, core support ect...?
Is there a chart guidelines for this?
What do the professional restorers/painters use as a standard for these areas that are not gloss?
