I am buying some new plug wires today and see they have 10mm wires now. I remember the 8mm used to be more then enough. For almost double the money are the 10mm's worth it?

They even make 11mm wires! i just run 8.5's and feel that is more then enough. Can't see the benefit of 10mm besides the looks IMO

Frank, I run Accel's 10.4mm and 8.8mm variable boot wires on my engines. They both perform great. The only reason I run the 10.4's is for looks and maybe a little heat resistance.

8 or 8.5's work just fine!

Unless you're running a top fuel dragster, then 8mm wires are more than adequate. I prefer Taylor wires over MSD and Accel.

Kyle- What type of plugs are you running???

The difference may mean that your timing light pickup won't go over the plug wire and it won't work. We get guys with garden hose sized plug wires on the dyno and it becomes difficult to pick up an rpm signal because the probes won't clamp over the wires. Unless you've got an extraordinary fire breathing ignition system with .100" plug gap the standard 7mm wires will work just fine.

my understanding is the insulation is just thicker :clonk:

My motor plugs are Autolite 3923's in the summer, 3924's winter and my nitrous plugs are NGK race plugs Heat range 9. (can't remember the PN:clonk: ) But i have run the Nitrous plugs on motor at the track cause i didn't want to change them when i got there as well as about a weeks worth of street driving and had no fouling problems and these are pretty cold.
