I am about to finish up restoring my first 71 Chevelle. About a month ago I bought another 71 from a friend that needs to be restored. I'm pretty sure that it is a Malibu, but have not had the chance to check on that. I was thinking of cloning a Heavy Chevy. But I am not sure what all was different between the Heavy Chevy and the other models. I know the stripe down the side but that is about it. Does any one know were to look for info on this? I tried looking in TC but could not seem to find anything, but maybe I was not looking in the right place. Is it true that they did not have carpet and all that they had was a rubber mat? Do they have the SS (round gauges) or the Malibu (sweep) dash? Thanks for any help.

Its true that Heavy Chevys did not have carpet. I don't know if it was an option or not though. Most came with a rubber mat. The once HC that I've seen pics of the interior had a sweeper dash. Hc's also had different door panels, I've never seen them for sale in reproduction catalogs. I HAVE seen one pair on ebay though. The also had a non-functional cowl hood. Thats about all I know, I hope I'm correct about what I said.
