I've had better luck with the seam sealer out of a caulking tube that stays flexible. You can still paint over it, too. I used some sealer out of a can from Eastwood before, but eventually it got hard and cracked. Now it leaks water there when it rains. I've had good luck with 3-M and Auveco brands.

Spray some epoxy primer after you clean and sand all the old crap out. Let it dry a couple hours. Use masking tape to tape the seems off for a good clean look. Then squeese in some windshield urathane and smooth it with your finger. Do it rite the first time. Pull off tape. I've been doing body work for 15 years and found nothing that works better than urthane. Stays flexable and you cant get it off. And it's paintable. If they would only sell it in single use applications it would help.
