A buddy of mine bought a 72 Cutlass with a 455. Hes having the motor redone now. Prolly going to be pushing about 550 hp. He ordered the Offenhauser low profile dual quad intake and two edelbrock 650's. Question is, should he set up the linkage 1:1....or progressive. What would be the advantage to either or the cons to either?

With the Edelbrock carbs, I cant see any advantage to running progressive linkage. They are "vacuum" secondary carbs and will adjust themselves to the needed airflow.

If one were to assume that an Olds putting out 550hp was strip only, no real advantage for either. If it is a street car, the advantage for street manners goes to progressive.
