My 70 does not have rubber pads on the rear posts. I would have to go look but as I remember there is a large pad, not sure if it's rubber, on the hood that hits the post. Don't think it's rubber as the two would scrap when hood is closed, hood is moving back as it comes down. Front ones don't scrap, just make contact when fully closed. I'll take a look and if I'm wrong I'll let you know.

There are rubber squares on the 70, but they are placed on the hood as opposed to the rear post that is on the top of the firewall. The 70 does not have the hood spring, that was a 69 thing. You can put it on there and it will function, just didn't come from the factory with one.

The large pins in the cowl are not there to adjust the hood. Those pins are designed to go up into the hood to hold the hood from coming through the windshield in a front end crash. If you look at how the hood hinge is designed, it also holds the hood in place in case of a crash. The hood hinge actually has a circular end that wraps around the hole. When the hood is closed the pins go into those holes. The rubber bumbers Tom mentioned actually hit the cowl, not those safety pins...
There is no reason to have rubber bumpers on these pins cause they aren't suppose to touch anything...
