Would you smart people help straighten me out on the 70-72 stripes? I am totally confused as to where the deck lid/rear stripes are supposed to end. I have seen a couple supposedly "original" paint cars where they go all the way under the trim (hardtop, no vinyl..which is what I have). But in the assembly manual, it says they end 2" from the bottom of the trim.
To answer this great personal mystery, I did a search through the archives of this section, and found the same two answers.. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif So I am just as lost as when I started this! If the stripes do end before the rear window trim, do they just end abruptly? Did different plants turn them out differently? Any one with a pic of stripes that end early?
I'm not building my car for restoration judging, but I want it to look close to "right" in many ways from the exterior when you see it from a distance (like it might have been had it been new today and you just put some wheels on it) And while I personally like the stripes to be trimmed out at the window, I'd just like to know what is "correct".
Thanks a bunch for your help.
