I have 66 Elky that I am restoring. It has significant rust damage around the sides and bottom of the rear window opening. I know this is a common problem with this cars. I need help locating patch panels for this repair. If anyone has info it would help. Thanks

I'm going through the same thing on my sons 67 elcamino. You might want to check the front too. His is rusted all the way around. We got estimates of $1200 to fix around both windows. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif I bought a small mig welder and am going to try to fix it myself.(Then I'll take it to the shop and pay the $1200):rolleyes Both Original Parts group(1-800-243-8355) and National Parts Depot(1-800-521-6104) have the bottom only repair panel.

I got mine for my '68 from OPG. NPD said it was discontinued when I tried to order it from them.

If you want to see how I did the job, click here (http://www.geocities.com/chadjlandry/rearpanl.html). I also recommend doing all of the welding from inside the car if possible (provided you're butt-welding). This would have made my job much easier. I just didn't think about it until after I had ran the first row of stitch welds on the outside.

I just had the glass reinstalled today and I shot primer this evening. I'll post pics of the finished product after I paint it (probably a week or so).

I got mine for the 67 from OPG. They have the complete rear panel under the window on sale for 60 bucks. Shipping is the real kicker on this part because they say it is oversized. I also see where NPD offers a patch under the rear window.

Try a call to El Camino Store. I have an old (96) catalog of theirs in which they list the windshield patch panel and the rear window patch, too. They may have what you need. Call 805 681 8164 Not sure if they have a web site.
As for shipping from OPG, they have charged me way too much for shipping, so I do not use them unless they have something really special. They seem to be able to make a wiper blade into an "oversize" package if you give them a chance.
