Someone told me that a two-tone paint scheme was available as an option on 68 chevelles. Is this true? They said it would be black below the lower side moldings. I saw a car with this setup and thought it looked cool but I don't want to have mine done this way if its some custom thing. Currently, my car is being painted dark blue metallic and it'll have the vinyl top redone.

The Index of Years[b] is accessible from the front page of [b]Team Chevelle at www.chevelles.com (http://www.chevelles.com) . For 68 there are some pictures that show the break down. http://www.chevelles.com/years/68/index.shtml Go the promotions page.

Welcome aboard. The 68 paint scheme you are referring was available. My cais painted that way and my L78 future project which is original paint from the doors back is painted the same way. Click on the "my favorite" link below my name to see a pic. BTW the color was a semi-gloss black. Good Luck.

Is it safe to say that this would be an "SS only" option (for 68), since none of the others would have the rear molding to seperate the colors?

Dave, The black on the rockers was only on the SS models. I read somewhere that that was Chevys way of making a Super Sport identifiable from the side since there was no SS emblems or Super Sport script on the side of the car.

Was this option only on certain colored cars also?
