I need help on picking a cam for a 468 with 10.5 compression 850 demon dp 781 heads with stock valves victor jr intake turbo 350 trans 3500ss ,and its going in 85 chevy truck with 411grs . was wanting a solid flat tappet , sombody help me !
This cam Solid Lunati cam (http://www.holley.com/40208.asp) in my old 468 which was an identical combo to yours went 12.00's @ 112-114 consistently in my old 64 El camino with 3:73 gears, it weighed 3560 w/me. It worked great with nitrous as well. A 150 shot was good for 10.90's @ 123. I sold the complete motor and trans to a friend and in his full weight 68 Chevelle with 4:11's it was good for 11.60's @ 114 on motor and a 250 shot was good for 10.30's @ 130 mph. This cam is very streetable, sounds mean, revs well and is easy on the valvetrain. I'll use it again if I ever build another street 468 BBC.

With 10.5:1, 3500SS, 4.11s, you could use as big a cam as Lunati's 402A8LUN, or the 402A7 LUN.
Here are 4 suitable Lunati cams that I designed, from smallest usuable to largest.
402A3LUN 276/284 243/251 .586"/.600" 110
402A5LUN 285/295 252/261 .595"/.595" 110
402A7LUN 288/296 255/263 .612"/.630" 110
402A8LUN 292/301 259/267 .625"/.625" 110
The A3, A7, and A8 have all made it past 100,000 miles in BBCs. The A5 is just as good, just doesn't have as many years of street use. It was one of my most popular SBC cams, though.
Another cam in the same family as those listed is a custom order, part # 40299, grind number 02-UF18-UF01-10, which is 280/288 at .020, 247/255 at .050, .595"/.612" valve lift, and 110 LSA.
All of these cams require, as a minimum, a Carter 172-gph mech fuel pump, or the Holley equivalent, and 1/2"---#8---fuel line from tank to carb. Stock fuel pumps or 3/8" fuel lines let the float bowls run out at high RPMs.
Those cams are all ground 4* advanced, so they can be put in 'dot-to-dot'.
Now THESE are healthy cams!

If you are running the 781's I would go with at least the A5 if you want to run pump gas. The A3 will be real iffy. It would probably be fine with Alum heads but with the 781's????. If your Quench is around .040 you might be able to use the A3. I'm running the A3 and might move up the the A7 when I change to different heads. If mine gets real warm (200+) I sometimes get a little run-on when I shut her down on 93 octane. No signs of detonation on the plugs.
Since it's a truck and therefore heavy, I would run as small as I could without detonation.
Harold's CAMs are the best in my opinion no matter who's name might be on them.

thank you . that a5 looks good that will work. will let you know how it works out
I run one of Harolds last true "Ultradyne" cams in my 70 its his "288/296" 110 Solid or "A7" its a good cam, it runs great, my only complaints are its a little low on vacuum at times even with a vac reservoir and it will drain a tank of gas with a mighty thrist. LOL :D
My latest/new combo of Brodix BB1's and intake flow alittle more air hence the reason I suggested the smaller Lunati, it no slouch, even with stock oval ports this cam will need the fuel upgrades Harold recommends.
