I just bought a 69 Chevelle,there is no paint code on the cowl tag.Instead there is two dashes - -.I was told this means that it was a special order color.Upon closer inspection of the original paint,and going through some old paint books,I discovered that the color was Verdoro Green Met.code73.This is listed in the 69 Pontiac section.Has anyone seen this color on a 69 Chevelle,How rare are special order paint cars?Interior trim code is 795.Any help is much appriciated.

I've seen the -- on cowl tags before for special order paint on '69's. It seems you could special order just about any color GM offered on any car in '69 if you had a cooperative dealer, wanted to go to the trouble, wait a while, and probably put a hefty deposit down. The 795 interior trim code is for a std bench in vinyl with Midnight Green color.

Seems to me I saw somewhere earlier this year (perhaps eBay???) a Chevy of some sort that had the same special order paint, and it was Pontiac Verdoro green. Have to agree with von here, if you had the money, time, and right connections, you could probably get just about anything you wanted back then.
