Wasn't sure whether to post here or in Transmission and Driveline.....

Took my 65 for a road cruise to Jackpot Nevada this weekend with two friends along. New shocks, springs, bushings, sway bars etc.

Well, all of the sudden when I hit a bump, the drivleine is bumping and rubbung the tranny tunnel of the car. This occured at any speed and almost any size bump in the road, as well as curbs.

I just installed a 700r4, could it be because of a slightly different driveline angle, or is it something with the suspension?

It seems to be rubbing about 6-8" down from where the front yokes meet the tranny. The area is about 1/2" wide.

Again it only happened with three of us in the car, and we all weigh about 200 lbs.

when I put in the poly trans mount, it caused a similar problem. It came w/ a shim, which I initially installed. That made the rear of the trans higher than the stock mount.

I removed the shim, and now it never happens.

Did you check the length of the driveshaft?
The yoke needs to be able to move in and out on the tailshaft of the tranny as the suspension moves up and down. A friend recently split his tranny because the yoke bottomed out on the back of the tranny when he launched.
