I have a 68 SS 396 engine is 396 and I would like to put on power steering. Does anyone know which power steering units will work on my car. I would assume that any gearbox from 68-70 chevelle will work, but are there any other models that will work as well. I am not looking to stay 100% original, so if I can find a unit from another car would be fine.

do you have a long or short water pump, any mods or is it original? 68's came with short pumps from the factory but alot of them have been changed over to the 69-up long pump.

I believe that I have the short water pump, but I am not positive. The car isn't here so I can't really check. I suppose that different length will mean different applcations will and won't fit.
