I was wondering (happens too often)if anyone could clarify this for me. Years ago I think I read about 'stick-on' stripes being applied to some 66's. I don't recall if they were a dealer option or what. Any info would be greatly appreciated....terence

I've never heard of factory stripes on a 66, just the 67's. Now the dealer can do what ever he wants to the car and stripe it but I would say no factory 66 stripes

I have seen a few 66's with pin stripes, some appearing to possibly be original...

The 1967 SS Chevelles had standard and optional side stripes (and they were the "stick-on" style), maybe you or someone else got the year confused... Just remember 1966's are the better looking ones http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif...

I have been debating putting the 67 SS standard stripes on my 66, just to be a little different, but still look stock...

Interesting though, this summer, I saw probably 25 different 1967 SS cars, and only one had the stripes. Most of those cars were repainted, and I guess the owners don't like the stripes...

The body contours are the same for the 66 and 67, so the stripes should fit perfectly (of course the front-fender's front portion will have to be shortened...

I think Chadh5 has the standard stripes on his 67 convertible... Search for his screen-name and look at the picture in his signature...

Was a very common thing with dealers in the past. Vinyl stripes, pinstripes, vinyl tops, "special" paint sealants, all a way to make more money on the sale. They could have them applied for half what they sold them for. Some still do it.

Hi guys. Thanks for all the input. I was out of town for a few days. I knew about the 67's but I just wanted to clarify about our 66's and I knew this was the place to get the correct info. Later.........terence
