I noticed the other day on a Chevelle brochure that the "CHEVELLE" hood emblem was missing. I don't know if this is an actual photo or just an artist rendition - http://www.team67.com/images/Chevelle67.jpg but it got me to wondering. I found some old photos I'd taken of my first 67 Chevelle purchased in Dec. of 67 and I noticed it didn't have the "CHEVELLE" on the hood either. http://www.dalesplace.com/images/chevelle/myblackss_2.jpg Maybe the early production runs didn't have it? Any thoughts?

I would say that going strictly by old factory issue literature is dubious. Usually the pictures were pre-production. Trim would get hand-made for the picture, or get airbrushed in after the fact. Sometimes the cars themselves might be little more than fiberglass 'bucks'. I have never seen any stock '67 Chevelle that didn't come with the 'Chevelle' nameplate on the hood (or El Camino with 'El Camino' on the hood). 1967 Chevelle hoods did come without any emblem on them only on the '67 Beaumonts sold in Canada and other commonwealth countries.

I can certainly understand a picture for a brochure maybe not being 100% accurate for the reasons you cite, preproduction promos or airbrushed to make them more appealing. I really got to wondering about mine original car since I purchased it in Dec of 67 and it had been on the lot since Oct that I know of and was curious if being a very early production, it might not have had the emblem. Stranger things have happened I guess. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
