Just got my SBC 350 running. I went with a demon jr. 625cfm. The intake is an air gap performer for vortec heads. When the car is running is smells like it's running rich. I tried adjusting everything according to the manual but it still smells rich. I don't have a problem running the engine it starts just fine. Adjusting the idle screws did not work.

Adjust the air bleeds, they are hte screws on the sides of the carb bowl, turning them out lets in more air (leans it up), screwing them in makes it richer.
Be sure to note where they are stock just in case you want to go back to factory.

When you adjust the screws, does the engine respond? If you turn them in, it should idle down, want to die. If it's not doing this, your butterflies are open too far. This will allow fuel to be pulled from the transfer slots, and might also cause fuel to drip from the boosters, as they're starting to receive enough vacuum to pull fuel through. This will cause erratic, rich idle.
