Saw this on Summit's website. I'm being told my TH350 may be on it's way out as there was approxamatley 1/8 to 1/4 of clutch sludge found in the bottom of the pan. So ofcouse I'm looking into transmissions.

I'd like to hear from anyone who's used this brand of tranny.....especially if your tranny is this same one.......I'm wondering how much better of launch I'll get as compared to a standard 2.52 1st gear.

Oh yeah.....they also have a TH400 with the same set up:http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=TCI%2D211010&N=4294925134+4294839071+4294861220+400252+42949082 16+4294904018+4294880801+4294790926+115&autoview=sku

Not that I base my decisions on this, but.... I've noticed that a lot of the car shows (i.e. Monster Garage, Overhauled, Boyd, etc.) use TCIs. I don't have any personal experience with TCI or buying NEW trannys, but why don't you want to let your tranny man go through your old one? Does clutch sludge indicate a tranny that can not be rebuild? or do you just want another new part on the car...;)

I've considered that too, it's a matter of finding a good tranny guy....

not sure what first gear mine has in it but I have a TCI th350 from summit, been in the car for 4 years behind a 406 smallblock that runs in the 12's , it works great and has seen at least 50-75 passes on the dragstrip

Dawg I have a 383/2004R (2.74 lo gear) with a 2800 stall converter driving 3.73. Believe me the launch is satisfactory.
I have 10" rear tires with a posi and a full throttle launch gets me a practically instantaneous 5000RPM which stays that way till the tires catch up.

One day I'll get it on a strip with some of that sticky stuff they prep the starting line with and see how quick it is. Its a 4dr so I imagine I am toting 3900 lbs or so plus me and a trunk full of downforce.

Blue rods and all. :)

I researched the 200 4-R......looks like these two have the same tranny ratios, one minus the overdrive gear.....

I am guessing TCI spends PLENTY of money GIVING items to car shows... and it looks like it was a good move since it gives the perception that the best guys use their stuff. Then again it just may be the best stuff... but I personally haven't had any luck with them.

Just my 2C
